Vermont Interfaith Action (VIA) values the trust of our donors and volunteers. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy applies to donations made online, by mail, in person, or through other giving methods.
Information we collect and use
VIA collects information needed to process and acknowledge gifts, maintain accurate financial records, and communicate with supporters. This may include your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number,
donation history, and any giving or communication preferences you share.
We use this information to provide donation receipts, honor gift restrictions, respond to questions, and share updates about VIA’s work and opportunities to support it.
Keeping your information private
VIA does not sell, rent, trade, or exchange donor names, contact information, or giving histories. We do not share donor information with partner organizations for their fundraising or marketing purposes without the donor’s
permission.
We share information only as needed with service providers that support donation processing, recordkeeping,
accounting, and communications. Those providers are expected to protect the information and use it only to provide services to VIA. Information may also be disclosed when required by law.
Protecting donor records
Access to donor information is limited to authorized staff, board members, volunteers, and service providers who
need it to carry out their responsibilities. Anyone with access is expected to maintain confidentiality.
VIA uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect electronic and paper records. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
Online donations may be handled through third-party platforms, whose privacy policies also apply to information
they collect.
Recognition and anonymity
VIA will obtain your permission before publicly identifying you as a donor or sharing the amount of your gift. You
may request anonymous recognition at any time. VIA will still maintain the internal records needed to acknowledge your gift and meet financial and legal requirements.
Your choices
You may contact VIA to update or correct your contact information; change how often or how we communicate with you; stop receiving fundraising messages; request anonymous recognition; or ask questions about how your information is used.
We will honor these requests as promptly as practicable. We may retain donation records needed for accounting,
tax, or other legal requirements, even after you stop receiving communications.
