Vermont Interfaith Action brings people of faith and conscience together to build relationships, develop leaders, and take collective action for justice. Our campaigns grow from the concerns and experiences of Vermont communities.
Vermont Community Resilience
VIA helps communities build the relationships and local networks needed to care for one another, respond to threats, and create lasting change.
Through Community Resilience Potlucks, Mutual Aid and Safety Hubs, Know Your Rights education, and regional organizing, neighbors identify shared concerns and develop local leadership. This work is growing in communities across Vermont, including Bennington, Brattleboro, Manchester, Pawlett, Rutland, and the Northshire.
Immigration Justice and Religious Freedom
VIA organizes with immigrant communities, clergy, faith communities, and statewide partners to defend human dignity, due process, religious freedom, and the right to live without fear.
Our work includes immigrant accompaniment, Know Your Rights education, rapid-response coordination, nonviolent direct-action training, and public witness. We are also building deeper relationships within marginalized faith communities and supporting advocacy for religious inclusion.
Housing Justice and Ending Homelessness
VIA believes everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to live.
Our campaign brings together people who have experienced homelessness, faith communities, clergy, and community partners. We advocate for affordable housing, emergency shelter, supportive services, and policies shaped by the experiences of people most affected.
VIA also coordinates statewide funding for Vermont’s Extreme Cold Weather Shelter Program and municipal homelessness-response efforts. You can learn more about that initiative by visiting Get Warm Now VT website.

Climate Justice
Climate change is a moral and justice issue. Flooding, displacement, rising energy costs, and threats to food and housing security fall most heavily on communities with the fewest resources.
VIA works with faith communities and statewide partners to build a stronger climate justice movement through leadership development, public action, education, and policy advocacy.
How We Organize
VIA begins by listening. Through one-to-one conversations and community gatherings, people identify the pressures affecting their lives and the changes they want to pursue.
We provide training and organizing support so that community members can lead campaigns, strengthen their communities, and build the collective power needed to create systemic change.
